R&B sensation Faith Evans performed live for the first time in eight years at Billboard Live Osaka yesterday (Oct. 5), her first stop in a series of concerts over the long weekend in Japan.

The Grammy Award-winning diva appeared onstage dressed casually in a floral Gucci T-shirt and flowy pleated skirt and went all out from the beginning of the set. Though she complained of suffering from jet-lag, her stellar vocals never faltered as she belted out her classics for the adoring Osaka crowd.

She included many of her past collaborative works with various artists in her set, seamlessly providing all the vocals herself, including songs from her well-received recent posthumous duets album The King & I that features the unequivocal flow by her late former husband The Notorious B.I.G.

She exuded grace and warmth throughout the evening’s performance and proved that her voice has in fact strengthened and matured over the years. Her soulful rendition of “Tears of Joy” was in fact a joy to behold.

Evans will go on to perform at MTV’s Soul Camp 2017 and Billboard Live Tokyo over the next few days.
