At the end of November, Japanese hitmaker Kenshi Yonezu hit a couple of new milestones by reaching a million followers and subscribers on his official Twitter account and YouTube channel respectively. He’s racked up a total of over 500 million views on the latter.

The multi-talented auteur had even more to celebrate when his latest studio album Bootleg - - released Nov. 1 - - debuted at No. 1 on Japan’s Oricon Weekly Album Ranking, Billboard JAPAN Top Albums Sales, and iTunes Weekly Album Ranking charts respectively, following in the footsteps of his previous album Bremen that also accomplished this incredible feat.

In celebration of these landmarks, the “Peace Sign” singer-songwriter has released the music video for his new song “Shunrai” off his new album. The title of the song means “spring lightning” and is a fan favourite which depicts the emotional rollercoaster of a man in love through the motifs of “spring” and “lightning.”

The video’s artwork was created by Houxo Que, the graphic artist who designed the song’s visual effects used in Yonezu’s concerts. The artist’s characteristic glowing neon colors and hypnotic floral patterns express the song’s motifs in the mesmerizing visuals.

Kenshi Yonezu is currently on the road for his Fogbound tour, performing 22 shows in 16 domestic cities until Dec. 24. He’ll also be performing two nights at the Nippon Budokan on Jan. 9 and 10, his first performances at the historic venue.
