Japanese girl group Perfume released a snippet of their music video for “Let Me Know,” the lead single off their seventh studio album Future Pop set to drop Aug. 15.

Future Pop will be the trio’s last album to be released in the members’ twenties, and “Let Me Know” illustrates the importance of staying true to oneself in the face of difficulties from the standpoint of a mentor. “If you continue to be yourself/I’ll keep waiting for you/So tell me,” they sing leading up the chorus, and the lyrics can be interpreted as the members addressing someone else, or perhaps being self-reflective.

The music video appears to be a metaphor for the members’ journey so far, starting off with Nocchi (Ayano Omoto) looking out of a window on an old bus and A-chan (Ayaka Nishiwaki) sitting a few rows away. Then Kashiyuka (Yuka Kashino) comes on board and the three young women end up sitting together while mysterious passengers join them on a bumpy ride through the rainy night.

The released video fades out right before the beginning of the second verse, as Nocchi appears to recognize the little girl in a white dress sitting near the front of bus. The full version of the video, which depicts the hardships and joys of their journey, will be included in the visual disc that comes with the CD release.

“Let Me Know” will be digitally released ahead of the album on Wednesday, Aug. 1.
