‘‘Blinding lights’’ was released by a Canadian singer The Weeknd on November 29, 2019. It has been on Billboard Hot 100 for 29 weeks and now ranks fifth. Billboard also highlighted its nostalgic appeal and named it ‘‘the best song of 2020 so far’’.
The song uses the style of synth-pop, which is one of the 80s electronic music styles. Synth-pop has a strong sense of time and science fiction. Chris Deville, the editor of Stereogum, complimented the song’s 80s aesthetic and vibe, saying that ‘‘The ‘80s will never die’’.
The Weeknd sings about the rekindling of a relationship between him and his partner. The lyrics ‘‘You can turn me on with just a touch, baby’’ emphasized the value of his partner. The melody is passionate and dynamic. The singer mentioned ‘‘I’m blinded by the lights’’ four times, from which we can deeply feel the inward fervency of the singer.
A TikTok dance challenge known as ‘‘Blinding Lights Challenge’’ has used the song’s introduction. Now let’s go back to the 80s and enjoy an auditory feast! You can listen to "Blinding Lights" on our Hot 100 station.
